btw.: i've just found out, that at least in theory, xorg.conf should be no longer required. to my surprise, this is in fact true for me ;-)

just forget about that; this is not supposed to work and in fact doesn't with
x11-base/xorg-server-1.2.0-r3. sorry for the bugspam ;-)
Comment 10 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2007-04-27 11:25:42 UTC
all of the mentioned packages for x86 emerge w/o problems. x11 still works flawlessly for me.

amd64 done.
Comment 13 Jules Gagnon 2007-05-11 19:56:44 UTC
I want to inform you that ati-drivers-8.28.8 require xorg 7.1
Also this is the last version to support Radeon 9250 and lower.
I know the opensource radeon driver works with this chipset, but until now, I didn't find a way to use tv-out in non clone mode with the opensource driver.

I will have to mask xorg-server-1.2 and higher on my system.
Comment 14 nixnut (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-12 19:33:16 UTC
Stable on ppc
Comment 15 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-20 23:34:04 UTC
Stable for HPPA.
Comment 16 Christian Schmitt 2007-06-24 10:27:40 UTC
I am wondering why there are some packages on ppc which are still marked unstable, although xorg 7.2 was marked stable some months (?) ago on ppc and they are stable on x86 and amd64. The list with the proposed packages also mentions them for ppc.

Is far as I can see it is:
xkeyboard-config
xrandr
xorg-docs
libXvMC
libXfontcache
libXevie
libXres
libfontenc
libXinerama
libxkbfile
libXaw
mkfontscale
xkbcomp
...
Comment 17 Joshua Kinard gentoo-dev 2007-06-28 00:45:52 UTC
mips all done!
Comment 18 Raúl Porcel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-02 14:26:09 UTC
ppc: can you have a look at the packages you're missing?
Comment 19 Raúl Porcel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-02 16:09:29 UTC
alpha stable
Comment 20 Christian Schmitt 2007-07-02 17:09:00 UTC

I will do that within the next few hours. I'm glad to help.
Comment 21 Christian Schmitt 2007-07-02 21:59:56 UTC

x11-libs/libXevie
x11-libs/libXres
x11-libs/libfontenc
x11-libs/libxkbfile
x11-drivers/xf86-input-keyboard
x11-drivers/xf86-input-mouse
x11-apps/xprop
x11-apps/xrdb
app-doc/xorg-docs
x11-libs/libXrender
x11-libs/xtrans
x11-libs/libXt
x11-libs/libXpm
x11-libs/libXmu
x11-apps/mkfontscale
x11-apps/xkbcomp
x11-apps/luit
x11-apps/mkfontdir
x11-apps/xdpyinfo
x11-libs/libXinerama

x11-libs/libICE
x11-libs/libXau
x11-libs/libXaw
x11-libs/libXdmcp
x11-libs/libXext

So far I did not see any issues
Comment 22 Lars Weiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-03 14:04:17 UTC
I made the remaining packages stable on ppc.

Some of the drivers were not ~ppc; I leave it so until a user requests it.
Comment 23 Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-07 13:36:35 UTC
sparc stable, finally, with xorg-server-1.3.0.0 goodness too.
