Does it work with USE=nls ?
Ah, I can see the problem. Looks like I missed an #ifdef in the nls patch. Fixed in CVS, please allow few hours for the patch to propagate and try again - there shouldn't be any more issues. Alternately, you can just fetch the updated patch from sources.gentoo.org right now. Sorry about this.
System seems to have been i a strange state. Works now, with USE="milter -nls".
