Description Trevor Benedict 2007-03-05 21:53:26 UTC
/opt/RealPlayer/realplay.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libXCBRenderUtil.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

x11-libs/xcb-util-0.2
media-video/realplayer-10.0.8-r2
~x86 world

Reproducible: Always

If you don't update to x11-libs/xcb-util-0.2 , works fine.

You'll have to run revdep-rebuild after upgrading xcb-util; if that still doesn't help, you'll need to complain upstream I guess.
Comment 2 Paul Taylor 2007-03-05 23:31:48 UTC
Running "revdep-rebuild --library=libXCBRenderUtil.*" followed by "revdep-rebuild" fixed the problem for me. (Running "revdep-rebuild" alone generated compilation errors due to the missing libXCBRenderUtil.)

Running only revdep-rebuild doesn't work.
But a emerge pango gtk+ --oneshot did the job. Don't know if only reemerging pango is enough

Since Bug 169574 was recycled, can we mark this a dupe of Bug 169574 so we only have one bug for this?

As noted in Bug 169574, the possible work-around solutions will vary with the complexity of the broken libs (it can happen from other libs besides xcb). I'm glad you got fixed though. Personally, I finally unmerged everything that I could that had the broken reference and updated from there.

Dupe...
