Had the same error!
... and funnily, when runnimg the same emerge for a second time, it worked.

This kind of non-deterministic behavior smells a lot like having
a "parallel build issue", epsecially because all users reporting
-- including myself --  have at least MAKEOPTS="-j3" and are
propably building the beast on a multi-core cpu.

The "famous last words" suggest to me that "swig" hasn't finished
writing to "gv_python.cpp" when "gcc" starts the compilation.

So I think that -- as a quick fix -- "-j3" should be filtered out
for this ebuild.
