I'm not able to set DMA on my acer laptop: http://www.acer.be/acereuro/page9.do?sp=page4&dau34.oid=16773&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=2&CountryISOCtxParam=BE&LanguageISOCtxParam=nl&ctx3=-1&ctx4=BeLux&crc=3210271537 I tried selecting: CONFIG_ATA_PIIX => DMA doesn't work ATA_PIIX under the experimental drivers => DMA doesn't work PATA_OLDPIIX => DMA doesn't work it's a bothering problem because everything goes really slow especially fs checks. I asked to some people and they said it would be fixed in the 2.6.19 kernel (i was on 2.6.18 than.) but still it doesn't work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Compile new kernel 2. Reboot 3. See that it doesn't work :-) Actual Results: DMA doesn't work, i even can't play a movie in a descend way.
