Description Tony 2007-02-04 14:18:39 UTC
After installing dbus-1.0.2 on amd64 revdep-rebuild fails unless the following packages are manually installed/re-emerged

dbus-glib-0.72
[~]python-2.4.4
[~]dbus-python-0.80.1
[~]hal-0.5.7.2-r3
pmount-0.9.13
avahi-0.6.16-r1

After manually performing an emerge on the above package revdep-rebuild works correctly, however this should not yet be marked stable as it is not sufficiently tested enough for regular users.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge dbus-1.0.2
2. etc-update
3. /etc/init.d/dbus reload
4. revdep-rebuild

Actual Results:
revdep-rebuild fails not being able to find verious dbus modules.

Expected Results:
Should have rebuilt dependancies, all systems should have been usable.

No.
Comment 2 Tony 2007-02-04 14:35:28 UTC
An effort is currently being made to fix these dependancy issues, however as it depends on unstable packages, and is also breaking systems this package should be considered unstable. Other users have complained of the problem in the forums.
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-04 14:39:48 UTC
This *won't* be changed, period. Get revdep-rebuild fixed.
Comment 4 Tony 2007-02-04 14:42:20 UTC
Not a revdep-rebuild problem as emerging packages manually fails until above packages are properly emerged. This is an ebuild problem.

Stop bugspamming us, please. We won't revert the keywords.

I don't have any problem with dbus-1.0.2 on amd64 :-/

Folks, no need to comment here further. ;) Dropping the stable keywords would break the hell out of any stable user out there who's upgraded already, for zero reason. Totally a no-go.
