Description Andreas Maus 2007-01-29 15:41:31 UTC
Hi.

Installing a new system with the following make.conf:

livecd scripts # cat /etc/make.conf
# These settings were set by the catalyst build script that automatically built this stage
# Please consult /etc/make.conf.example for a more detailed example
CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

USE="X -qt -kde -gnome ldap ldapsam opengl ncurses offensive nethack"

The installation of OpenLDA fails with:

It have to fail because groupadd is part of the shadow-package:

spunky ~ # which groupadd
/usr/sbin/groupadd
spunky ~ # equery belongs /usr/sbin/groupadd
[ Searching for file(s) /usr/sbin/groupadd in *... ]
sys-apps/shadow-4.0.15-r2 (/usr/sbin/groupadd)

Which will be installed _AFTER_ openldap:

livecd scripts # emerge -ep system

[... snipp ...]
[ebuild N ] net-nds/openldap-2.3.30-r2 USE="berkdb crypt gdbm ipv6 perl readline ssl tcpd -debug -kerberos -minimal
 -odbc -overlays -samba -sasl (-selinux) -slp -smbkrb5passwd"
[ebuild  N    ] sys-libs/cracklib-2.8.9-r1  USE="nls python"
[ebuild  N    ] sys-libs/pam-0.78-r5  USE="berkdb -nis -pam_chroot -pam_console -pam_timestamp -pwdb (-selinux)"
[ebuild N ] sys-apps/shadow-4.0.18.1 USE="cracklib nls pam -nousuid (-selinux) -skey"
[ebuild N ] net-misc/openssh-4.5_p1 USE="X ldap pam tcpd -X509 -chroot -hpn -kerberos -libedit (-selinux) -skey -sm
artcard -static"
[... snipp ...]

As you can see shadow will be emerged after openldap instead before.
A dependancy for shadow should be added to the openldap ebuild
(and its perfectly right to add ldap to the USE flags
wenn installing a fresh system).

Anyway, emerge --info told me:

livecd scripts # emerge --info

Current workaround:Use -ldap -ldapsam and add openldap later

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set ldap and ldapsam in USE flags
2. emerge -e system
