Since updating baselayout to 1.13.x (currently 1.13.0_alpha12) I get an error starting ddclient in the default runlevel:

/etc/init.d/ddclient: ERROR:  ddclient failed to start

Despite this error message, according to ps ddclient appears to be running:

ddclient  3924  0.0  0.5  22472  6044 ?        S    12:47   0:00 ddclient - sleeping for 190 seconds

The "sleeping" number updates every 10 seconds. I get no ddclient errors in /var/log/messages, just the error from the initscript. Running the script manually generates the same error.

I have had this issue with every version of baselayout up from 1.13.x to and including 2.0.0_alpha4.

Is there anything I can do to help debug this?
