Try to install media-video/gspcav1-20070110 instead of media-video/gspca-01.00.10
Ok, media-video/gspcav1-20070110 compiles, loads and works perfectly with my Logitech QuickCam Express (same behaviour than it had with spca5xx). I will let this bug open because this is package.masked, could any gentoo dev unmask it, and ~amd64 keyword despite this is beta? (I thing is enough with ~amd64 keyword, no need to package.mask it). Close it when this masking is resolved.

I have an Acer Orbicam in my laptop and when I try to compile gspca I've got the same error you've got. Like you said, gspcav1 is masked. My laptop is AMD64. How to unmask it?

Thanks anyway =) > Don't comment /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask!!!! This is masked by portage system, and, when you sync portage, this changes WILL BE REVERTED TO DEFAULT. Instead, add "media-video/gspcav1" to /etc/portage/package.unmask and "media-video/gspcav1 ~amd64" to /etc/portage/package.keywords (without quotes), and this way, this changes will not be reverted to default with a sync and thus, this is the correct form of unmasking things (obtained from the gentoo's handbook) :)
