Can we hard mask sys-kernel/vanilla-sources for 2.6.19 and 2.6.19.1? Since external modules can't compile against them (getting a sandbox violation, see bug 149307) their usefulness is questionable on modern desktop/laptop hardware. 2.6.18.x works, as well as 2.6.19.2 which has the "don't store temp in kernel tree" patch. I'm currently running 2.6.19.2 and both ati-drivers, nvidia-drivers, and ipw3945 (after unmasking) compile cleanly against them. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
No, that'd be plain stupid.
Care to explain? Or do we not get to prevent someone from using a broken kernel due to a stupid choice?
vanilla-sources is not a supported kernel on Gentoo. And anyone can upgrade to 2.6.19.2 if they are using external modules, or patch this themselves. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-kernel.xml#doc_chap3
