Description Graham Murray 2007-01-13 15:33:32 UTC
I have radvd running on another system on my LAN. Kernels prior to 2.6.19-r4 pick up the IPv6 address from that at boot - showing eth0 with both 2001: (glocal) and fe80: (local) addresses and sets up the ipv6 routing via the system running radvd.

With kernel-2.6.19-gentoo-r4, it does not see the IPv6 router and just assigns the fe80: address. I built 2.6.19-gentoo-r4 from the same config as 2.6.19-r3 by running 'make oldconfig' which did not prompt for any manual input. I am sure that it is the kernel not baselayout (which has also received a number of updates recently) as when I boot into 2.6.19-gentoo-r3 IPv6 works correctly and when I boot into 2.6.19-gentoo-r4 it does not.

I have the same problem, too.
Comment 2 Roy Marples (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-14 09:04:57 UTC
Confirmed that automatic client ip6 detection fails. -r3 works btw.

suspected bad patch

Please try reverting this patch and see if it helps.

If it doesn't, it would be good if someone could confirm that the bug doesn't exist in vanilla 2.6.19.1 and was introduced in vanilla 2.6.19.2

fix

Please reapply that patch and then apply this one on top, and confirm that the problem does not reappear
