Need new ebuild here
Comment 1 Alex 2006-12-10 06:10:08 UTC
They'll be in portage next week if nothing prevents that. You can currently get them in the XEffects overlay.
Comment 2 Lee Trager 2006-12-10 21:43:20 UTC
Will Aquamarine and Heliodor also be added to portage next week or should I file a separate bug?
Comment 3 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-10 22:14:30 UTC
Assuming they both build, yes they will. So no, no need for a new bug. I should hopefully get it tomorrow for all ebuilds. However, if I don't I'm not sure when I'll be able to get it. I'll be out of the country once again for about a week starting tuesday.
Comment 4 Alex 2006-12-11 03:38:25 UTC
Aquamarine will probably not make this release. You can expect it in 0.1.3.1 most likely.
Comment 5 Matt Manjos 2006-12-11 05:17:17 UTC
Under the release notes, it says "New Decorators": Heliodor and Aquamarine, so I assume they're out officially now.

Also under the new "Features" page, there's working screenshots:

While aquamarine might have been released, the tarball is buggy and doesn't allow it to build. We are trying to resolve that.
Comment 7 Christian Schmitt 2006-12-12 15:36:47 UTC
While we are at it: beryl also runs on PPC and should be keyworded accordingly. The only problem is that you'll need xorg-server-1.1.1-r3 to avoid some endianess problems
Comment 8 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-14 16:25:10 UTC
thanks for the confirmation that it works with ppc I'll be sure to add ~ppc to the list of archs it runs on. As you can see I've not added it to the tree yet. I'm sorry about that guys but packing and getting ready for heading to korea for a week basically took longer then expected. As I'm recovering from the jetlag I'll try and get it into the tree (without making any oh great he was too tired to commit mistakes). It's actually quite ready for the tree, I just need to take the ebuilds from nesl247 and ensure that they conform to the expected tree style. If I get time tonight I might try and work some magic from korea as well. Depends on how tired I am after the install goes (its not going to go well today..such is life though)
Comment 9 James Porter 2006-12-19 11:17:19 UTC
bump...me wants 0.1.3
Comment 10 Alex 2006-12-19 11:56:04 UTC
If you want 0.1.3, use the xeffects until tsunam can put the ebuilds in the tree. They are the same ebuilds going into portage anyways.
Comment 11 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-19 11:59:23 UTC
Sorry about the delay guys as doing it from oversea's just didn't happen with how badly the install went. I'll be getting them in from home after work, or possibly during lunch.
Comment 12 devsk 2006-12-19 12:50:15 UTC
does it make sense to have a separate beryl overlay? the current xeffects overlay is overloaded with patches which want to upgrade qt, kdelibs, gtk+, cairo and other packages. I am sure they are good and are present there to fix some problems, but I am just plain interested in only 8 pkgs that pertain to beryl.

Because the official portage ebuilds are so late and xeffects wants to update packages which I don't really want to update, there seems to be no middle path.

PS: I worked around this issue by deleting everything other than the 8 beryl packages from xeffects overlay, but its kinda dirty and I may have broken something doing this.

PPS: if you don't maintain xeffects overlay, I apologize in advance about OT...:)
Comment 13 Alex 2006-12-19 12:51:56 UTC
devsk, I maintain it, so if you want to talk about it, please contact me on IRC (nesl247 @ irc.freenode.net , I'm in the #gentoo-xeffects channel)
Comment 14 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-19 14:12:33 UTC
Should be all hunky dory now. Poke me if anything goes horribly wrong. heliodor is in the tree now as well.
Comment 15 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-19 14:14:23 UTC
Also, please do realize that for a week (you know..the week beryl-0.1.3 has been out more or less) I've been out of the country for business. I really don't appreciate being told that its really late, when a week has passed and I just committed this on my lunch hour. It'll be in the tree within the next few hours on the mirrors.
Comment 16 Lukas Miczka 2006-12-19 14:35:01 UTC
You don't have to sorry for delay - no one pay you for this job.

I'm happy that I'll have beryl soon.

But, I do appreciate the work you put in!! I really really do. My comment was not meant to hurt you or complain about the delay, but about whether it makes sense to separate out beryl from xeffects overlay because it really is something of its own now and big enough, and not an X effect which you patch in.

I know people don't say it much, but thank you for putting in your time. (Man, I would hate to disrupt my lunch with something like that, I really love food!)
