KDE2 apps that embed kparts from KDE3 programs often enough crash. Another known case is quanta (embedded konqueror view crashes). The best possible solution is probably to wait for the KDE3 version of ktexmaker2, which is scheduled for release sometimes this month according to the site. Meanwhile I've added the latest version (1.7) to replace the rather old 1.5, but it has the same problem. But you can use the external kdvi viewer which works ok, so it shouldn't be too big a problem. I hope you feel the same way :-)
