Sorry, there's no error above. Paste more lines above the output you've posted.
I did not find any other error message. I disabled ccache, deleted /var/tmp/portage and emerged gcc without any problem.
I can confirm this happening with gcc-4.1.2 as well. Disabling ccache solves the problem.
