Created attachment 102835 [details] Updated ebuild for x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.31.5 Here's an updated ebuild. Changes: - changed SRC_URI to reflect the changed name of the runinstaller - Added einfo about a bug causing a lot of trouble since 8.25.x (http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=509) I'm running the new driver here on a Mobility x1600 and works fine.

it doesn't compile with kernel 2.6.19 but i'm going to file another bug (missing linux/config.h) if anyone hasn't done it yet.
applying the patch from http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151596 make it compiles fine
I think that these patches are a better solution: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156876 I've tested this on 8.31.5 and kernel 2.6.19 and it works.

Better to check for kernel version and apply Fedora patches, then to remove config.h includes altogether.

Created attachment 103308 [details] NMI message related to b1 cpu0 I try the lastest ebuild from here but when I used this ati-drivers it displays in my dmesg a message related to nmi b1 cpu0. I tested my ram modules but all of it are good. I try to downgrade to 8.30.3 ati-drivers and no nmi message appeared.

Oliver: try restarting you computer after the fglrx upgrade. I see from your dmesg, that you simply restartet the xserver, without even taking your time to modprobe -r fglrx. Maybe this is the cause of the problems, but, of course, I'm not sure.
And, I forgot: don't forget renaming the ebuild to ati-drivers-8.32.5, otherwise you get the 8.31.5 version, which isn't the latest one and which is also not the version this bug has been filed for. ;-)
I try modified ati-drivers-8.31.5.ebuild renamed ati-drivers-8.32.5.ebuild. My ati-drivers works good without error messages. Thank you.
Has any one successfully use software suspend, either swsusp or suspend2, with 8.32.5 ? I tried and it hung once at atomic copy and I got a kernel oops a second time. I am using 2.6.19 and suspend2 2.2.9. I have no problems with 8.30.3.
8.32.5 wouldn't run for me. X crashed about the time I got a login window. I then tried to go back to my console (vesa frame buffer) and it was badly corrupted. I had to downgrade to the 8.30 drivers. Anyone else experience this?
when 8.32.5 will be in portage?

I copied the ebuild for 8.30.3-r1 and change the SRC_URL to work with 8.32.5 and have not have troubles with suspend2. Should the 8.32.5 be based off of 8.30.3-r1? It is different than the one posted here.

The only chance for me is the still buggy 8.31.5. 8.30 seems to be running, but I couldn't see anything on screen, not even a pointer, no error in Xorg.0.log. 8.32.5 can start, but I can not get anything beyond failsafe terminal. X crashes for all other sessions. My card is FireGL V5250. ati is a bad choice for linux. Looks like Intel Graphic is the only choice.
8.32.5 Working fine here on ati moility radeon 9700.
Created attachment 104450 [details, diff] Fix compile on linux kernel version >= 2.6.20 This fixes the compilation of the ati-drivers for linux kernel version >= 2.6.20. DRM is broken within this patch because of this commit: http://kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=f5738ceed46782aea7663d62cb6398eb05fc4ce0 If somebody know how to determine the address of a certain syscall please fix my patch.

I have a mobility X700, kernel 2.6.19-suspend2-r1, and 8.30.3 works well for me.
FIXED. 8.32.5 is in portage now.
