Description Sumanth Peddamatham 2003-02-05 16:20:47 UTC
I updated my machine to baselayout-1.8.6.2 and my machine halts after booting the kernel. I get an
error message that states that my /var/state directory is non-existant and that I should mount my
drive writable and create the directory.

Here is a copy of my /etc/fstab:
/dev/hda2 none swap	sw 0 0
/dev/hda6 / reiserfs	noatime 0 0
/dev/hda5 /boot reiserfs	noauto,noatime,notail 1 1
/dev/hda7 /var reiserfs	noatime 0 0
/dev/hda8 /usr reiserfs	noatime 0 0
/dev/hda9 /mnt/snatch-local reiserfs	noatime 0 0

need to check for existing bugs first. see bug #15175, then chroot your install from the disk and run etc-update

You did not update /etc/inittab. Attach your version.
