erm ati-drivers has nothing to do with radeon, that's xf86-video-ati - do you have the problem with both drivers and did you remerge whatever driver you're using _after_ the upgrade to xorg 7.1? BTW RC kernels like to break external stuff like ati-drivers

(I did a re-emerge of xorg-server 1.1.1-r1.) Did you recompile xf86-video-ati? And which version is that? (Reopen the bug if needed, don't file duplicates.)
