If I upgrade my udev to the any version beyond 094, including 100-r2, firmware loading does not happen properly upon bootup. On bootup, this happens: ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, git-1.0.8 ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2005 Intel Corporation ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: -1 ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: -1 ipw2200: failed to register network device ipw2200: probe of 0000:14:02.0 failed with error -5 If I after that, in console, do a rmmod ipw2200 && modprobe ipw2200, I get ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, git-1.0.8 ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2005 Intel Corporation ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection and it works properly. According to http://www.openthought.org/blosxom.cgi/2006/02/13 the firmware helper rule should be placed last (as "999-firmware-helper"). Maybe this is the cause - now firmwarehelper is in the middle of 50-udev.rules.. My kernel version is 2.6.16 and firmware for ipw2200 is 2.4.
