Description Sil 2003-01-29 13:14:29 UTC
I'm running gentoo version 1.2 with gcc 2.95.3. I was trying to compile KDE 3.1
and found that version of libsdl that I was running was causing it to error. The
version of libsdl I was running was 1.2.4. After I force upgraded it. I retried
to compile the KDE Addon package and it compiled fine. The bug for me is fixed,
I just thought someone should know.

I'm afraid this isn't clear enough. Please explain yourself.
What was the error caused by libsdl 1.2.4, and to what version did you upgrade to fix it? And if
it ws an upgrade, why did you have to 'force' it, is it masked or marked ~? What profile are
you using? (add the output of 'emerge info')

Sorry, should have looked over my first submittings.
I run gentoo version 1.2 with gcc 2.95.3. During my upgrade to KDE 3.1 the package 'kdeaddon' I got a compile error, (I do not have the error on hand anymore). My version of libsdl was lower than v1.2.4. When checking dependancy of 'kdeaddon' it showed that my system complied with everything the package needed. After reading up on what it takes to compile 'kdeaddon' I found that my version of libsdl (the one under 1.2.4) was the problem. I'm submitting this bug because at the time my system did not have version 1.2.4 of libsdl and package 'kdeaddon'
required it for compiling. Sorry for the confusing bug report.

My 'emerge info' is below:

according to http://promo.kde.org/kde_reqs.php, kdeaddons doesn't need sdl...
Comment 4 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-02-11 15:57:01 UTC
This still doesn't help. Unless you can give us the text of the error message, we can't do
anything much about it I'm afraid...
kdeaddons has an optional (use sdl) dep on libsdl btw.
Comment 5 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-19 16:16:51 UTC
Noone else reported it, and it was fixe for you by upgrading (maybe just remerging?) libsdl, and
by now everyone will have the new vesrion in any case. So I think we can just forget about it.
