How about that error Christian reports? Can't mark x86 stable if it doesn't work..
Comment 5 William Hubbs gentoo-dev 2006-09-09 13:21:55 UTC
Let's hold off on this due to bug #146906. I will comment here again once I get that one fixed since it will require re-working the festival ebuild as well.

Comment 6 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2006-09-10 12:49:02 UTC
1.) emerges fine on x86 with USE="X"
2.) passes collision-test
3.) festival command works (echo $foobar | festival --tts)

I am getting this on ppc64:

item_feats.cc: In function 'EST_String get_featname(EST_Val (*)(EST_Item*))':
item_feats.cc:81: error: cast from 'EST_Val (*)(EST_Item*)' to 'int' loses precision

doesn't look pretty good: cast from 64bit pointer to 32bit integer.. this is no nice code. Why does amd64 not suffer from this problem? isn't pointer size 64bit and integer size 32bit, too?
Comment 8 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-11 01:40:32 UTC
oh.. should read changelog. amd64 added a patch. why are those only applied on amd64? shouldn't they be made arch independent?
Comment 9 Jesus Rivero (Neurogeek) 2006-09-13 12:38:54 UTC
Hello..

in x86 gcc-4.1

1) emerges fine
2) passes collision tests
3) works (pretty cool stuff :D)

THOUGH... i had esd as use flag when i first emerged it, it didn't emerge it before (i didn't have esound installed)

RDEPEND="sys-libs/ncurses
        mbrola? ( >=app-accessibility/mbrola-3.0.1h-r2 )"

DEPEND="${RDEPEND}
        sys-apps/sed"

I think esd should be a dep for this package (at least if you are having esd as use flag)

Comment 10 William Hubbs gentoo-dev 2006-09-13 17:14:10 UTC
Disregard comment #3 above. I will do a revision bump to handle that issue once we get this stable.

Regarding the amd64 patches, would you prefer that I do a rev bump and see if I can make them arch independent?

Also, at the same time, I can make media-sound/esound a dep if esd is in use.

yes, that would be great!
Comment 12 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-14 00:21:21 UTC
With USE="-esd" it works just fine, so I investiged what the problem was with esound...and I did not set it up correctly. So it now works with and without esd. Please add dependency.

All,

I committed -r1 to address comments #8 and #10. Also, I found a patch that makes it possible for siteinit.scm and sitevars.scm to be in /etc/festival so they can be configured.

Please test and mark this stable.

Thanks.
