Description Irvine 2006-09-05 21:10:58 UTC
Hello

This is a new installation and I am trying to emerge kdenetwork.

Just after downloading kdenetwork and making some checks the following
error is reported.

!!! ERROR: kde-base/kdenetwork-3.5.2 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1555: Called dyn_setup
  ebuild.sh, line 668: Called pkg_setup
  kdenetwork-3.5.2.ebuild, line 55: Called die

!!! Please reemerge =x11-libs/qt-3* with USE="opengl".
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

I emerged x11-libs/qt after adding opengl to it's useflags in
/etc/portage/package.use and after that remerged kdenetwork but
got the exact same error message.

Not sure how to troubleshoot this. I am relatively new to gentoo linux. On my
other computers I have 20006.0 and have had little problems. This is my first
2006.1 install.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give.

Hello

I tried the above command. Not much joy from that:

# emerge -pv =x11-libs/qt-3

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=x11-libs/qt-3".

I tried with an asterix and got the following:

# emerge -pv =x11-libs/qt-3*

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] x11-libs/qt-3.3.6-r1 USE="gif* opengl* -cups -debug -doc -examples -firebird -immqt -immqt-bc -ipv6 -mysql -nas -nis -odbc -postgres -sqlite -xinerama" 0 kB

As you can see, you clearly didn't compile qt-3 w/ USE="opengl"; do it.

Hello

Seems that I should do some more reading. I haven't been using gentoo long and
thought that the opengl* meant that that option was turned on. No doubt you have
alot of experience with gentoo, so I will assume that the mistake is mine.

Thanks for all your help, and the speed with which you did so.

Take care!

No, that means that it's been turned on, but compiled without it. You've probably rebuilt QT4, but not QT3.

emerge -1 =x11-libs/qt-3*
