I've java-1.4 and java-1.5 on my system, but I need only java-1.5 browser-plugin so...

make.conf -> USE="nsplugin"
package.use -> =dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4* -nsplugin

dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4.2.12-r1 was previously emerged with global USE so with nsplugin useflag enabled

# emerge -uDvaN world
reports nothing to do... but

# emerge -vp =dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4*
[ebuild   Rf  ] dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4.2.12-r1  USE="X alsa -doc -examples -jce -nsplugin*" 0 kB

The same atom used on another system works as expected.
