Description Ryan Hill (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-17 21:39:51 UTC
current stable dev-libs/vdk-2.4.0 fails to build with GCC 4.1 (bug #134742). if possible, please stabilize >=dev-libs/vdk-2.4.1 as GCC 4.1 will be going stable on amd64, ppc, and x86 for 2006.1.

thanks ;d

You should CC the relevant arches if you want this to happen :)
Comment 2 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-18 13:33:44 UTC
ppc stable

We like to let the maintainer decide what they want to do. There could be some reason it's not stable that we don't know about.
Comment 4 Matthias Langer 2006-08-20 12:37:54 UTC
well, i've done some testing with dev-libs/vdk-2.4.1 USE="-debug -doc" on x86. as there seems to be no package in portage using this lib, what i have done is to correct, compile and run the "Hello world" example from the project's web page. so far, the library seems to be sane - however i would greatly prefer gtkmm.
Comment 5 Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-22 12:56:05 UTC
Actually dev-util/vdkbuilder uses it.

i must have missed that; i'll check if it works with the new vdk version as soon as possible.
Comment 7 Matthias Langer 2006-08-22 16:00:27 UTC
ok, i've now taken a cursory glance at vdkbuilder-2.4.0 USE="nls -debug" using vdk-2.4.1 USE="-debug -doc". seems to be ok, at least for x86 ...
Comment 8 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-25 07:29:19 UTC
1) emerges fine so far
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
/var/tmp/portage/vdk-2.4.1/work/vdk-2.4.1/missing: Unknown `--run' option
Try `/var/tmp/portage/vdk-2.4.1/work/vdk-2.4.1/missing --help' for more informat ion
configure: WARNING: `missing' script is too old or missing

2) passes collistion test
3) vdkbuilder emerges fine on it

amd64 doesn't have this keyworded at all, removing us from CC.
Comment 10 Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-28 10:21:40 UTC
Actually it's s/amd64/alpha/ and we missed them.
Alpha: candidate for stable? Even if it's for cleanup purposes.
Comment 11 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-05 23:23:55 UTC
x86 is of course stable ^.^;
