When opening the properties dialog for an existing partition I can not resize it although the text displayed suggests it should be possible. Also, after selecting to format the partition I expect to be able to change the filesystem type.
we're gonna need more information than that if we're to debug this. please give us your complete partition layout and exact steps you tried.

The partition on which I plan to install this test version is /dev/hda4. What I did was click on /dev/hda4 and then use the "Properties" button. Inside that dialog box I tried resizing the partion using the slider, but it didn't move. Changing the size in the textbox had no effect either. As for changing the filesystem type, I find it normal for the list to be disabled by default, but when I change "Format:" to "Yes" I expect that list to be enabled.
The installer is currently not capable of resizing reiserfs. It can resize fat32, ntfs, swap, ext2, ext3, and anything else that parted natively supports resizing. As for changing the filesystem type when formatting, just remove the partition and create the new one in its place. I designed it this way, and I probably won't change it.
(In reply to comment #3) > The installer is currently not capable of resizing reiserfs. Actually I didn't expect it to be able to resize reiserfs partitions, but that's what the Installer claimed :) So I tried it, and I didn't get any error message... I don't think this is also design.
