Wow, xlander brings back memories ... it was my first Linux game ever. Countless hours of fun! :D Sometimes we competed, who would manage to put the lander into the orbit :]

Has since then been any update to the package itself?

xlander-19920729.ebuild

Revised ebuild that creating a working installation on my current Gentoo system ("amd64").

The code appears to be 64-bit clean, but otherwise is fairly sloppy. The last revision was 1992, and remains unmaintained; to maintain/improve it going forward probably requires a full rewrite.

Anyway, it does work (one bug is that the same planet is used on successive levels), and the only dependency is libX11!
