Trying to emerge gimp-2.2.12 with USE="doc" results in a block, 'cause gimp requires gimp-help, but the only version of gimp-help which is in portage is 0.10 and it  blocks gimp-2.2.12, cause RDEPEND="!<media-gfx/gimp-2.2.12"
The solution is to emerge gimp with USE="-doc"
An update of gimp-help, I think, it's needed

No, you need to unmerge the old gimp version first.
