Description Michal Januszewski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-05 09:11:07 UTC
Martin, if there are no blocker bugs in klibc, do you think one of the 1.x versions could be marked stable on x86 and amd64? The fact that all versions >= 1.0.14-r1 are currently available as unstable prevents any packages using the klcc wrapper from being marked stable (I'm writing this with media-gfx/splashutils in mind).
Comment 1 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-05 10:20:24 UTC
There is your bug #122173, and two other not so critical ones. I'll do a new build tomorrow, and add those fixes.
Comment 2 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-07 06:35:30 UTC
Ok, added -r2 with the KBUILD_OUTPUT fix, and path related fixes (bugs #139330 and #122173). If we can have it tested and marked stable for Michal please.

3) passes testsuit

4) passes collision test

5) media-gfx/splashutils-1.1.9.10-r1 emerges fine (executable stack again, but I won't report it here in detail). Could not check if klibc is used therein. Any hints? klibc is pulled in when emerging splashutils.

scanelf-execstack.log

log of executable stacks when emerging klibc
Comment 5 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-07 11:31:04 UTC
Not sure about the executable stacks (ie, needed or not), but they have been there as long as the test in portage was. I will check with upstream.
Comment 6 Michal Januszewski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-07 13:19:55 UTC
Christian: Yes, splashutils does use klibc and the 'executable stacks' warning is caused by splash_helper being linked to klibc. There is even a bug open for it (#126056). If the executable stacks are needed in klibc, I guess it can be closed as CANTFIX.
Comment 7 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-07 13:34:20 UTC
Its more a matter of klibc's 'loader' not supporting PT_GNU_STACK, so no point currently in trying to force it in anyhow. Will still check with upstream though.

x86 is done...X_X
Comment 9 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-18 06:55:55 UTC
Stable on amd64... closing since we're last...
