Description Evan Teran 2006-06-27 23:46:48 UTC
artsd crashes if built with -esd USE flag. Today I tried the following with not so great results :(

I added -esd to my USE flags since to my knowlege i never use esd, i use OSS or ALSA. did an "emerge -puDN world" which did as expected recompile arts. Then when I restarted kde, the sound daemon (arts) crashed. After tinkering around for a bit, I thought, maybe it was the USE flag change...after removing -esd from my USE flags, it once again works crash free.

I am now running gentoo with gcc 4.1.1 and kde 3.5.4 and this is still an issue.

On my current setup, i can now compile artsd with -esd and this works ok, but the moment if you uninstall esound (not needed by anything anymore right?) next time you start kde, artsd goes into an infinite loop of crashes, very annoying... simply re-emerging esound stops the crashes immidiately.

Run revdep-rebuild and reopen if you still have problems after it's finished.
