Description Alfonso 2006-06-20 15:55:46 UTC
I'm not sure if I should post this here or to madwifi. I post it here because it works under my other linux distro (ubuntu). I have an SMC pci wireless card smcwpci-g. It has an atheros chip, so I have installed madwifi-ng and madwifi-ng-tools. The device is not recogniced. There is no athx device, when I use ifconfig or iwconfig. Could it be a problem with kernel options? I have read carefully the requisites (80211, net_radio, etc.), so I don't think so.

I had forgotten the emerge --info:

After examining the hardware with lspci, and to my suprise, the card has not a atheros chipset (I have bought it because on madwifi page was listed as having that chipset). It is realtek ( RTL-8185).
