After an upgrade to the xf86-video-tdfx-1.2.1 driver on a ~x86 System ( -> to Xorg 7.1), compiled with gcc-4.1.1 for a PCI Voodoo3, the new version of the tdfx-Driver crashes shortly after the screen is used by a window. The time before the crash varies and seems to depend on whether you use the screen. Although everything seems to work without anything on the screen (I can't tell whether a wallpaper has any influence or not), my box freezes totally shortly after a window is painted on it. Switching to a framebuffer console doesn't work after the freeze and automatically killing the app. (eg. by running "sleep 150 && pkill $APP" before starting the window-causing application) doesn't work either, but this may be due to poor ulimit-settings. The problem occurs with the tdfx-card as 2nd card as well as when using it as the only screen and does not occur without the driver or with version 1.1.1.3. I hope it helpes, further information can be provided on request. be blessed, Ben $ lspci : =================================== [...] 00:0b.0 VGA compatible controller: 3Dfx Interactive, Inc.
