Same problem here too but compile if xinerama flag is ON (e.g. USE="xinerama" emerge libsdl)
Exactly same problem here too... with up-to-date (~x86) (gcc 4.1.1, kernel 2.6.16-gentoo-r8). I confirm with gcc-3.4.6 and glibc-2.3.6.
confirmed on amd64. I've masked =libsdl-1.2.10 on amd64 until this is resolved
(In reply to comment #7) > confirmed on amd64. I've masked =libsdl-1.2.10 on amd64 until this is resolved It's on x86 too! I filed a bug upstream: http://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=241 And attached a patch (which may or may not be correct, but at least it compiles!): http://bugzilla.libsdl.org/attachment.cgi?id=134&action=view
(In reply to comment #7) > confirmed on amd64. I've masked =libsdl-1.2.10 on amd64 until this is resolved > er, this wasn't stable on amd64, mask dropped
Possible dupe of bug #134434 ?

Thanks Ian for reporting upstream. Resetting Hardware and OS as this bug applies unconditionally (even on G/FBSD).
Created attachment 87611 [details, diff] This patch fixes the compilation problems for me It seems that some parts of the xinerama conditional compilation is not put under #ifdef...#endif.

Created attachment 87657 [details] libsdl-1.2.10-r1.ebuild ebuild with patch proposed(libsdl-1.2.10-xinerama.patch! worked perfectly...
Andoni, your patch fixed problem on my system (x86-P4, gcc 4.1.1), now it compiles just fine. (of course, xinerama use flag switched off).
patch worked here also. ~x86 with gcc version 3.4.6 (Gentoo 3.4.6-r1, ssp-3.4.5-1.0, pie-8.7.9)
Hi, Works for me too, GCC-4.1.1 ~x86. A note here, anyone - rename the patch to match the patch name in the ebuild or apply manually. Thanks.Rumen

patch works perfectly. ~x86 / gcc 3.4.6
Works correctly with USE=xinerama; didn't try the patch, though looks it should not cause any problems... SDL team probably just forgot #ifdef's in a few places ;)
*** Bug 134817 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Patch works fine on ~x86 / gcc-4.1.1
Please, I think that the developers know that the patch works, but they don't want to modify the #ifdefs until upstream evaluates the proposed fix. How do you know that this patch doesn't break some programs that use sdl?
Patch is now in portage. You are welcomed to test it.
