Just downloaded 1.4_rc2 for SPARC32 and found that this is still a problem for me. This is the same complaint as I registered in bug #6478. However it is limited to rebuilding openssl-9.6g. Once the shared libraries and openssl application is recompiled, everything looks fine again. file /usr/lib/* |grep SPARC32PLUS /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.6: ELF 32-bit MSB shared object, SPARC32PLUS, V8+ Required, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.6: ELF 32-bit MSB shared object, SPARC32PLUS, V8+ Required, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped lock root # file /usr/bin/* |grep SPARC32PLUS /usr/bin/openssl: ELF 32-bit MSB executable, SPARC32PLUS, V8+ Required, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.4.0, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped This affects the ability of someone to do an emerge because both ftp and wget are linked against libcrypto or libssl.
This just got me. I couldn't get a new kernel or emerge anything because ftp and wget were broken.
Tested this against the new 1.4_rc3 tarballs and the problem persists :( Will try to have a new tarball up semi-soon.
The stage3-sparc-1.4_rc4.tar.bz2 (appearing on mirrors everwhere as I type) should fix this problem. If for some odd reason this is still a problem, feel free to re-open.
