unstable release series
Comment 3 crusaderky 2006-04-25 09:25:00 UTC
<O_O> actually, it's perfectly usable although somehow less stable than 2.6.x.
I really don't see what's the problem in making it ~x86, while 2.6.x remains tagged as x86.
Comment 4 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-25 13:56:45 UTC
actually we don't care, ~arch is not for unstable stuff.
Comment 5 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-04 14:47:50 UTC
We don't put development releases into portage.
Comment 6 crusaderky 2006-05-04 16:10:37 UTC
Apart from the fact that it IS reasonably stable - I've been using it with satisfaction for almost 2 weeks now - if you consider a thing "unstable", you should just mask and let the users decide.
Comment 7 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-07 19:56:02 UTC
It's not a matter of stable/unstable, it's a matter of stable/development. Development is odd-numbered minor numbers. We don't put those into portage, as a matter of policy, no matter how "stable" they are. When upstream release a "stable" version (with an even minor number, for gnome 2.16.0), we'll put it into portage.
