Description Alexander Skwar 2006-04-17 12:53:39 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I cannot save images in JPEG format.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open some image
2. File -> Save As...
3. Try to save as jpeg. The options (optimized, progressive) don't matter.

Actual results:
A 0 byte file gets written. In the terminal from which I started gthumb,
I get the following output:

(gthumb:18670): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Bad option name 'smooth' passed to JPEG
saver

(gthumb:18670): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_savev: assertion `error ==
NULL || *error != NULL' failed

** (gthumb:18670): CRITICAL **: _gtk_error_dialog_from_gerror_run: assertion
`*gerror != NULL' failed

Expected results:
Image gets created.

Does this happen every time?
Happens every time. Happens since quite some time now.

Other information:
I'm using 2.6.9 on a Gentoo Linux system.

Comment 1 Alexander Skwar 2006-04-17 13:06:40 UTC
I just tested 2.7.5.1, and with this version, I can write JPEG image files just fine.
Comment 2 whitehawk 2006-09-11 14:03:10 UTC
I have this problem also when trying to resize images. I get blank 0 byte new files.. same error. version 2.6.9 If 2.7.5.1 fixes this problem as said, please import it to portage.
Comment 3 Alexander Skwar 2006-11-01 11:53:26 UTC
When will this be fixed? Ie., when will the broken "stable" version be removed and instead the working "unstable" version be added to the tree?

Raising severity, as this bug makes gthumb pretty much useless.
Comment 4 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-28 14:43:37 UTC
indeed, it's fixed for me too in 2.8.0 (bug 156342)
Comment 5 Yangtse Su 2006-12-26 00:28:49 UTC
I have the same problem.

This bug have been here for several months.

fuck!
Comment 6 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-26 01:50:21 UTC
Yangtse, no need to shout insults, at best people will only ignore you.

Now, I've tried to reproduce this bug on an ~x86 box, but the bug seems to be fixed. I'll close this bug NEEDINFO. If you want us to do anything about it, make sure you have a *fully* up-to-date system and please read :
 - http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
 - http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/gnome/gnome-policy.xml

Reopen the bug with all the necessary information.
Comment 7 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-26 06:29:02 UTC
Bug is corrected in 2.8 and later. Adding dependency.
