The decode/reencode feature of "gnupod_addsong.pl"
~heavily~ depends on "faac" for aac-encoding and
on "lame" for mp3-encoding.
Furthermore "Ogg-Vorbis-Header" is required for
decoding of "ogg" files and "Audio-FLAC-Header"
for decoding of FLAC files.

The later isn't in portage yet.
