Description Dietrich Moerman 2006-04-12 07:59:59 UTC
opera-8.52 does not merge because a prior dependancy, linux32, is still used to install Opera.

>>> Install opera-8.52 into /var/tmp/portage/opera-8.52/image/ category www-client
/usr/portage/www-client/opera/opera-8.52.ebuild: line 89: linux32: command not found

# grep linux32 /usr/portage/www-client/opera/opera-8.52.ebuild
linux32 ./install.sh --prefix="${D}"/opt/opera || die

it depends on sys-apps/setarch which provides linux32. do you have that package installed? also, provide `emerge --info` please
Comment 2 Dietrich Moerman 2006-04-12 08:24:02 UTC
setarch-1.8 is installed (is a part of the system profile). linux32 as a package itself was removed yesterday because it was suddenly blocking setarch.

emerge --info:

Comment 3 Rob Smith 2006-05-03 11:25:51 UTC
I had the same issue, re-emergeing setarch (emerge -1 setarch) fixes it.
Comment 4 Thomas Matthijs (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-30 04:29:14 UTC
I recently took over opera from lanius. I have no clue how these bits work with linux32 and stuff, amd64@ please advice.
Comment 5 Simon Stelling (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-23 06:08:49 UTC
i'm not sure why setarch didn't install linux32 in the first place, but remerging will fix it, as several users confirmed. there's nothing we can do, i'm afraid.
