opera-8.52 does not merge because a prior dependancy, linux32, is still used to install Opera. >>> Install opera-8.52 into /var/tmp/portage/opera-8.52/image/ category www-client /usr/portage/www-client/opera/opera-8.52.ebuild: line 89: linux32: command not found # grep linux32 /usr/portage/www-client/opera/opera-8.52.ebuild linux32 ./install.sh --prefix="${D}"/opt/opera || die
it depends on sys-apps/setarch which provides linux32. do you have that package installed? also, provide `emerge --info` please
setarch-1.8 is installed (is a part of the system profile). linux32 as a package itself was removed yesterday because it was suddenly blocking setarch. emerge --info: Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/amd64/2005.0, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.15-ge ntoo-r7 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.15-gentoo-r7 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share /config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kd e/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib64/mozilla/defau lts/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvi ps/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/conf ig/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/eselect/compiler /etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.b elnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/ gentoo http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo/" LC_ALL="nl_BE@euro" LINGUAS="nl" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.be.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 7zip X acpi adns alsa apache2 arts audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo bzip2 cdr crypt cups curl directfb divx4linux dri dvd dvdr eds emacs embo ss encode esd exif expat fam ffmpeg firefox flac flash foomaticdb fortran gd gdb m gif glut gmp gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml icq idn imagemagick imlib ipv6 isdnlog jabber java jpeg junit lcms libcaca libwww live lzw lzw-tiff mad mhash mikmod ming mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg msn mysql ncurses network nls o gg opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl php png postgres ppds pppd python quicktime r eadline recode ruby samba scanner sdl slang spell sqlite ssl tcltk tcpd tetex ti ff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb vorbis wmf xine xinerama xml xml2 xmms xpm xv xvid zlib video_cards_radeon linguas_nl userland_GNU kerne l_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LDFLAGS
I had the same issue, re-emergeing setarch (emerge -1 setarch) fixes it.
I recently took over opera from lanius. I have no clue how these bits work with linux32 and stuff, amd64@ please advice.
i'm not sure why setarch didn't install linux32 in the first place, but remerging will fix it, as several users confirmed. there's nothing we can do, i'm afraid.
