There is a bug with gtk-ex-formfactory v0.61 with the latest version of libgtk2 (2.8.15-r1). This is causing problems with dvd::rip functioning correctly. The upstream maintainer already fixed the problem with version 0.62. Simply bumping the version in portage fixed it.
