Description Kyle Liddell 2002-12-29 19:58:31 UTC
I tried to upgrade perl from 5.8.0-r5 to -r7. It fails with the attached stderr
when running emerge -u perl. I had db-4.1.24. However, if I downgrade to
db-3.2.9-r1, perl builds with no problems.

Please emerge sync and check again. DB4 has been pulled from all archs because
it has issues (incompatibilities) and is not supported at all. When you sync,
you should see in the db-4.1.24 ebuild that all arch's are marked "-" - this
means that this ebuild is not only not supported, it is in the process of being
completely yanked.

until db-4 is released to gentoo (not -arch'd), this can't be approached. Once
it is actively in portage again, we can readdress this if necessary.

actually, robert's working on db-4 issues currently, let's hand this to him
Comment 5 J Robert Ray 2003-01-14 05:16:15 UTC
Can someone tell me the proper way to add items to the include path during
perl's Configure script, I want to add '-I/usr/include/db4'. So I have to
resort to sed?
