Description Martin Mokrejš 2006-04-07 03:41:41 UTC
Hi,
I do not know whether this is related to bug #118604, but since I have upgraded to xorg-x11-7, my fvwm2, emacs and other apps cannot find rgb definitions. I'd think it is my fault in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.example, but there I see:

    RgbPath "/usr/lib/X11/rgb"

But, that file is clealy missing on my system.

/usr
/usr/bin
/usr/bin/showrgb
/usr/share
/usr/share/X11
/usr/share/X11/rgb.txt
/usr/share/man
/usr/share/man/man1
/usr/share/man/man1/showrgb.1x.gz

I am fixing the path in XF86Config file I use still.

You shouldn't have any any RgbPath path in xorg.conf; also xorg-server doesn't install xorg.conf.example

But why then the xorg.conf.example was left after upgrading to the xorg-x11 version 7?

Portage doesn't unmerge anything under CONFIG_PROTECTed directories. xorg ebuild would actually remove those ModulePaths and RgbPath from xorg.conf for you - if you weren't using a loooong time deprecated XF86Config.
