i recently grabed sun-jdk and got it like the ebuild said and it didnt work the package now has a -rpm in it and it extracts a rpm now the ebuild seems to still work after doing rpm2tgz and a couple other things anyhow im attaching the ebuild i had to modifiy note this is prob not the best way to do it but lets see how well you do it at 2am
Created attachment 6786 [details] sun-jdk-1.4.1.01.ebuild all this just for a fucking plugin that didnt work!
Can explain more on this, whats exactly the error, if have tried it, and im unable to reproduce it.
the plugin problem? simple it doesnt show up in moz/galeon and the error i get from galeon is LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /opt/sun-jdk-1.4.1.01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so [/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.1.01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so: undefined symbol: GetGlobalServiceManager__16nsServiceManagerPP17nsIServiceManager] moz doesnt say anything (i guess error msgs are off)
This is a known problem. You can enable plugin compiling dev-java/sun-j2sdk.
yeah i tried that when this other thing didnt want to work but 2 problems 1 im on dialup (yay just what i need more to dl) 2 it doesnt like openmotif being installed
i wish we would cease recommending the sun-j2sdk. the licence governing it is horrendous. :-/
Ok, to make the plugin work, you can use the latest blackdown-jdk-1.4.1 cause its compiled with gcc-3.2. (This jdk is ~arch masked). Can you try it and give me your feedback, its working for me.
