x2x does not translate keymap names. This is irritating if, e.g., you are using a keyboard with german layout on a linux box and having a solaris machine as second display: if you type chars where the AltGr key is needed, it won't be handled. So instead of '[' you get an '8', and instead of '|' you get a '<'.
