After emerging glibc-2.4, revdep-rebuild comunicates that gcc-3.4.5-r1 requires /usr/lib/libgcj.la which isn't there. Running revdep-rebuild (and thus re-emerging gcc-3.4.5-r1) does not fix the problem.
