This software has been abandoned by it's authors since October 2005. Note that a currently active fork exists (Audacious), which has absorbed the necessary functionality to play all formats that BMP would have needed a plugin for. Audacious is already in portage and is the suggested upgrade path for anyone currently using BMP 0.9.7.1 or older. As indicated by Thomas, this will not make it into portage. I will mask beep-media-player now to avoid more WONTFIX bug reports.
