Description Sebastian Bergmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-06 23:15:34 UTC
In a clean install of GDM 2.13.0.7 the Options/Select Language and Options/Select Session menu items do not work. Selecting them has no effect.

I have installed GNOME 2.13 from the official GNOME/SVN overlay on a fresh install of Gentoo Linux (~x86).

Portage 2.1_pre4-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.6-r2, 2.6.15-gentoo-r3 i686)

Comment 1 Sebastian Bergmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-07 01:07:42 UTC
This seems to be only related to the GDM themes installed by default. After I changed the GDM theme to Bluecurve (from redhat-artwork) the menu options in question work.
Comment 2 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-10 09:18:04 UTC
This is related to a new feature in >=gdm-2.13.x, that allows a single options menu rather than a series of buttons. Only the default gdm themes use this feature at this point, so only they are affected.

Upstream bug is:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330343

For now, until a fix is found, use a theme other than circles, happygnome, and happygnome-list. Either of the gentoo themes, for example, should be fine.

Fixed in gnome-base/gdm-2.13.0.8.
