I emerged linphone today, which pulling in speex as a dependency. As a result, emerge --newuse now shows several packages with the speex flag set, so it must have set a USE default. I unmerged linphone and ran emerge depclean, but speex wasn't listed for removal, because it is now required as a result of the speex USE flag it has set.
