Description tim 2006-01-21 08:50:32 UTC
hi all,

gentoo is the most customizable linux distribution, i'm aware of ... still, there is one feature, that i'd like to customize, that's not possible at the moment (at least not as part of portage)...

i emerge some packages with certain environment variables (CC, CXX, CFLAGS, etc) ... currently there is no way to override these settings for specific ebuilds ...

i'd propose to either add /etc/portage/package.variable files for each variable (see: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2276209.html) or one file /etc/portage/package.exports that contains all environment variables to be used for this specific package (except USE) ...

thanks in advance ... tim
