Did an "emerge sync" and an "emerge -uvDN world" January 14th 2006. (Previously did same thing successfully approximately a week ago and I'm using Gentoo 2005.1) The second emerge operation failed with The following message:

!!! Error: the <app-text/xpdf-3.01-r4 package conflicts with another package.
!!!        both can't be installed on the same system together.
!!!        Please use 'emerge --pretend' to determine blockers.

"emerge -pv xpdf" gives the following output:
