Description Philippe Laflamme 2006-01-12 14:52:54 UTC
I'm upgrading my system to use gcc-3.4 and I'm using the "long" method with emerge -e. One of my packages previously faild, so the emerge that is failing is actually

# emerge --resume

The upgrade fails when it tries to unmerge (after successful merge) ORBit-0.5.17:

[...]
making executable: /usr/lib/libORBitutil.so.0.5.17
>>> Completed installing orbit-0.5.17 into /var/tmp/portage/orbit-0.5.17/image/

>>> Merging gnome-base/orbit-0.5.17 to /
--- /usr/
--- /usr/bin/
>>> /usr/bin/ior-decode
>>> /usr/bin/orbit-idl

something is seriously wrong.

There is no such package gnome-base/ORBit-0.5.17 ( at least in the official tree ).

I'd try with no overlay's and see if you can manually merge/unmerge that package.
Comment 4 Philippe Laflamme 2006-01-18 13:13:17 UTC
May be a case problem (orb vs. ORB), but orbit-0.5.17 sure exists:

/usr/portage/gnome-base/orbit/orbit-0.5.17.ebuild
or
http://packages.gentoo.org/search/?sstring=orbit

Recently orbit-0.5.17-r1 was added to portage and seems to have emerged correctly on my machine...

Maybe you could resolve it...
