the instalation cd for IA64 archetecture is corrupt. i cant boot the instalation have tried many mirrors and the md5 checksum passes ok. also during the stage 3 and portage installation files go well yet when it come to chroot it fails with error cannot read /bin/bash exec error. if your woundering how i got that far well i used the amd64 arch boot install to get in then used the ia64 stage files naybe that has something to do with the error but the install ia64 cd wont boot sends the screen into funny kind of pixalated multi colored blocks with old style game characters. processor in my system pentium 4 HT em64t 800mhz fsb
A P4 is neither IA64 or AMD64. It is IA32 (x86).
I actually misread. While the amd64 CD *should* work if your P4 is *actually* em64t, ia64 CD will absolutely *not* work. Anyway, still invalid.
