" * Audacity will not build if wxGTK was compiled * with unicode support. If you are using a version of * wxGTK <= 2.4.2, you must set USE=-gtk2. In newer versions, * you must set USE=-unicode. " Set USE=-gtk2 when? When compiling audacity or when compiling wxGTK? I suggest this to be clarified in the message.
wxGTK of course. Sorry, but lack of language comprehension skills is not a Gentoo bug, moreover the die part (which you ommited) is pretty explicit... Besides, this einfo is no more present in new audacity version.
I insist on this being a bug. I don't believe there is any semantic rule in English that allows to determine in this case if "set USE-gtk2" refers to wxGTK compilation or audacity compilation. Prove otherwise please if you can.
1/ gtk2 use flag is deprecated 2/ this einfo is not present in >=audacity-1.2.3 3/ There's an explicit die message telling you what to do. 4/ We have better things to do than to "clarify" what's already pretty clear in old ebuilds. Closing.
I am not a native English speaker. However I have just asked a native English speaker (from UK) who is sitting next to me. He said: "No - you can't tell. It's ambiguous. There is a slight bias in favour of wxGTK, but it's not 100% sure - it's ambiguous."
